The Student Union Constitution was established by the undergraduate students and Transitional Year Program students of Brandeis University for the following purposes:

To enable students to better provide for the needs of the student body
To help student activities achieve their maximum effectiveness
To provide for meaningful address of student concerns and perspectives through the principle of democratic representation
To exercise our indisputable right to be represented meaningfully in the affairs of the University
To foster observance of the shared goals and ideals of the University community
To develop a sense of responsibility for our own conduct and for the welfare of this University
To protect the individual and collective rights of students

The Student Union By-Laws are created by the Student Union Government for its internal rules for conducting activities. They are enacted and enforced in accordance with the guidelines set for the in the Student Union Constitution and these By-Laws.
